Fishing on Grand Final Day

Waking to another morning of dust blanketting the city, we hit up Wanda at 5.30 am to score a left hand bank to share with just 1 other guy for the first hour. 4 fin fly fishin fun.
Some fun ones to be had before the strong onshore kicked in when I traded my spot in the lineup for a posi behind the lens.
Great start to the weekend. Off south this arvo after swinging by Hardly Normals to pick up my new HD Camcorder, on the proviso that Raylene lets me.
AFL Grand Final later today, hope the Saints get up for my cuz Stewart in Vico.

Quiet, but busy

The last week has been a bit quiet on the photo front, but ohhh so busy on the wave front, with Jake & I scoring some great waves at Wanda 5 days straight. Monday sees us with some onshore junk at Cronulla so we decided to have a lay day, & with waves expected mid week & right through the weekend, this old fella needs to rest up.
We are hitting the South Coast this coming weekend at our home away from home, and no doubt we'll be in for some sick waves down there.

Matt Johnson from The Sea Life has a great daily email with surf report & pics that has over 3000 subscribers. Here are a couple of pics Matt has taken of Jake & I. Top guy & takes some sweet pics. Subscribe here

Spring

Spring is in the air, well , more like Summer was in the air given the last few days temps.
Saturday was the Southside Malibu Spring Classic, held at North Cronulla, and what a cracker of a day with some great waves on offer to all.

We arrive before 6 to get a parking spot, as with the Spring fair in the mall nearby and thousands due to attend, parking would be at a premium later in the morning. We arrived to a beautiful sunrise and some fun little waves, Jake shot out for a fwe on the Old mal prior to the start of competition.

Jake managed to pip Blake Hackett in the Juniors to take out the win, and Blake returned the favour to Jake in the Old Mal, with yours truly coming in 3rd behind Jake, I made him walk home.

A great day had by all who attended and it was great to catch up with some guys who we hadn't seen for a while in Sam & Jac Tehan, both sporting Sam's new boards out of the Force 9 factory, and Kieran & Paul from the Manly Club.

September 11 - Cruisin Bellambi with Chris

Spoke to my mate Chris thursday and already with the thought of taking friday off, he informed me Bellambi had been great early thursday..... No more thought needed about calling in sick for the first time all year.
Jake & I hit the road early arriving at Bellambi at 6, catching up with Chris who was also having the day off. We hooked in to some nice uncrowded Bellambi peelers...
What a great early start to the weekend.
Tomorrow is the Spring Fair & coinciding Spring Classic at Cronulla & on Sunday I'll be joining my DV8 mates down Shellharbour way for our monthly club comp.
Early September & Cruisin in boardies at 27c..... just too much fun.

09/09/09

With the forecast of a light offshore breeze & some 2 footers likely to be on offer Jake and I head to wanda with the Old Mals at 5.30am.

We pull up and with just 1 lonely fella in the water and nice left handers peeling through, I pull on my boardies as quick as I can, Jake slips into his new Nineplus longjohn and we make a dash across the cold sand to sneak in a few before Jake has to be at school and me having to head in to work, albeit a little later than usual.
We both managed to hook into some nice clean Wanda walls. What a way to start wednesday.

Might just have to do it again on friday, minus the going to work thing.

Fathers Day

So it's fathers day, Jake & I head up to Long reef to catch up with the stylemaster Matt Chojnacki. Not knowing the Northern Beaches at all he takes us to Mona Vale Basin, an interesting setup to say the least, but loads of fun to be had on the logs & my latest acquisition, a 1966 BB.

After a sweet couple of hours we head to Avalon to the Raised By Wolves store that Matt manages, Jake purchases a new wettie & t-shirt & I score one of the best coffees I have ever had. Definitely worth the drive up to Avalon to check out the store, and suss out Matt's blogs

Super stoked! Thanks Boys
